Ekarad Pakpin, also known as Eak (Ekaradp.com), is a Bangkok-based, self-taught artist working across both traditional and digital media. His practice is rooted in a deep appreciation for nature, with flora and fauna forming the foundation of his visual language. This connection to the natural world is not simply thematic; it is central to how he observes, interprets, and expresses his ideas.

Through his work, he translates the complexity of nature into compositions that feel calm, balanced, and emotionally resonant. His artwork often features flowers in bloom, birds in motion, and insects delicately positioned within layered botanical settings. Rendered in rich yet harmonious colour palettes, these elements work together to create a sense of quiet unity. Rather than overwhelming the viewer, his compositions invite stillness. They encourage a slower way of looking, one that allows space for reflection and emotional connection. Across his portfolio, there is a consistent sense of serenity, where each piece feels both intricate and alive, capturing fleeting moments within the natural cycle.

Journey into Art

Ekarad’s journey into art has been both unconventional and deeply personal. Before becoming a full-time artist, he spent over a decade working as a cabin crew member with Thai AirAsia. This chapter of his life exposed him to a wide range of cultures, landscapes, and everyday human experiences. These encounters helped shape his perspective, sharpening his awareness of detail and his appreciation for subtle beauty in the world around him.

A pivotal turning point came during the COVID-19 pandemic. Periods of furlough created an unexpected pause, giving him the time and space to return to drawing and painting. What initially began as a way to pass the time soon became something far more meaningful. Through consistent practice, his skills developed rapidly, and with that growth came a renewed sense of purpose. Art shifted from being a quiet interest to a central focus in his life.

Recognising this shift, Ekarad made the bold decision to leave his role at Thai AirAsia and pursue art full-time. Since then, he has steadily built a career through commissioned work, personal projects, and exhibitions. His participation in events such as the Bangkok Illustration Fair has allowed him to present his work to wider audiences, connect with fellow creatives, and establish his presence within Thailand’s contemporary art scene.

Style, Philosophy, and Work Today

As a self-taught artist, Ekarad approaches his work with a strong sense of independence and experimentation. Free from the constraints of formal training, he has developed a distinctive style that blends traditional painting techniques with digital tools. His work is characterised by intricate detail, balanced composition, and a soft, meditative atmosphere. Each piece feels intentional and carefully constructed, yet never rigid, retaining a sense of fluidity and life.

His compositions often carry a subtle narrative quality. A bird in mid-flight, a flower at its peak, or a quiet arrangement of natural forms can suggest a moment suspended in time. These scenes are poetic and slightly nostalgic, inviting viewers to find their own meaning within them.

At the core of his artistic philosophy is a desire to create a connection between people and nature, observation and emotion, and stillness and creativity. In an increasingly fast-paced and digitally saturated world, his work offers a sense of calm and reflection, acting as a visual pause.

This evolving journey has led to significant opportunities, including high-profile commissions such as his collaboration with Gaysorn Village for Chinese New Year 2026. As he continues to grow and refine his practice, Ekarad remains committed to a clear and consistent intention: to capture beauty, cultivate calm, and create meaningful visual experiences through his art.
